The challenge
Third-party delivery apps take a heavy commission and own the customer relationship. Flo's Grill needed its own ordering channel compelling enough that customers choose it over Uber Eats — and the back-of-house systems to make direct orders effortless to fulfil.
What we built
The Flo's Grill app (iOS + Android) — menu browsing, ordering, push notifications, live order tracking, and the differentiator: loyalty points earned only on direct orders. The reason to skip the aggregator is built into the product.
Payments — a dedicated Stripe payment service (serverless, on Vercel) driving a native payment sheet: order created, payment intent raised, kitchen notified, delivery dispatch triggered automatically on confirmation.
Square POS ↔ WooCommerce sync — in-store and online inventory stay aligned automatically, so the app never sells what the kitchen doesn't have.
Inventory automation — stock tracking by item and unit with low-stock alerts by SMS and email, plus supplier delivery tracking, so reordering happens before running out, not after.
A ground-up native rewrite blueprint — a complete engineering specification for the next generation (Swift/SwiftUI and Kotlin/Compose), stripping the 12 unused payment gateways and 9 unused backends the original template carried, in favour of a lean architecture around exactly what the restaurant needs.
Results
- Customer app live on both platforms with loyalty as the direct-order incentive
- Zero manual inventory reconciliation between POS and online store
- Payments, delivery dispatch and kitchen workflow fully automated from a single order event
- Next-generation rewrite fully specified and build-ready
